USD 101 is a 1-credit course intended to assist first year students in their transition to life as a USD student. It is our goal to connect new students quicker & easier to faculty, staff, students & resources at the University of South Dakota. In addition, we want to make new students feel more at home in Vermillion. Finally, we want to help first year students meet other new freshmen and help students earn higher grades in their first semester at USD. Studies have shown that students who are connected to their university are more likely to be academically successful. We want that for our first year students!
USD 101 is organized as a hybrid online and face-to-face course. It will meet every other week in a high-tech room on campus, but most of the assignments will be distributed and completed online through Desire 2 Learn (D2L), which can be found on the myU Portal.
