AWOL Alternative Breaks
The AWOL (Alternative Week of Off-Campus Learning) Program sponsors service-learning trips during the University's winter and spring breaks.
Make Your Breaks Meaningful:
AWOL participants travel locally, nationally and internationally in teams to different cities, engage in service projects, and gain new perspectives on social issues while meeting community needs.
AWOL includes six weeks of training about trip issues prior to departure, education and reflection sessions while on site and post-break education and service projects.
Make your break meaningful and memorable working on issues such as hunger, poverty, environment or homelessness.
A Member of the National Organization:
USD's AWOL program is a member of the national Break Away organization.
"...The friends I made and the people I met created an experience that I will never forget and ignited a passion for service that had long since been lost in the hustle and bustle of the everyday life of a student."
