Hi, geology experts! Geologists play a very important role in understanding the past. They study the soils of a site to find out more about the chemistry of the site. When people live on the land, they change the soil by getting rid of their garbage, cooking, and even just walking around. These soil scientists work very closely with chemists.
Other geologists help to interpret how people and nature formed the landscape. They are called geomorphologists and work closely with environmentalists. They look at the layers or the stratigraphy of a site. Sometimes this information can help to tell how old a site is.
When you have a chance to work with the geologist, you will be doing
three things.
You can see lots of pictures and see how important geology is in soil layers in archaeological sites.
