The University of South Dakota Archaeology Laboratory (College of Arts and Sciences), InTEC (School of Education), and Vermillion Middle School (VMS) plan to develop interactive teaching tools to supplement the Vermillion Middle School Archaeology Program. This includes both w3 and CD-ROM. On the w3 pages you will have access to the four-week student program as well as the teacher materials that accompany the unit.

The Vermillion Middle School Archaeology Program is an outgrowth of VMS Archaeology Days, now in its eighth year. If you would like to read more about the program and some of the lessons we've learned, take a look at "Listening to the Teachers," a hypertext version of a paper about the project published originally in The Presented Past: Heritage, Museums and Education edited by Peter G. Stone and Brian L. Molyneaux, 1994, Routledge, London, pp.359-374.
