
The South Dakota Association of Professional Archaeologists was formed in October 1991 as a non-profit organization with the purpose of maintaining and promoting the goals of professional archaeology in the State of South Dakota.

This will be done partly by providing members with a newsletter, job referral service, and opportunities to participate in Association sponsored meetings, events, committees, and symposiums. The public will be provided with educational programs, opportunities to donate historic easements for cultural resources to the Association, and wide ranging sources of assistance, information and advice regarding archaeology.
Membership is open to individuals and organizations based upon their demonstrated interest and professional expertise in archaeology in the State of South Dakota. Organizations should submit a statement of interest with their applications. Individuals should submit a resume, vita, or SF-171 form. Print out the following form and send it with your vita or statment of interest and 1996 membership fee payable to "SDAPA," to South Dakota Association of Professional Archaeologists, PO Box 1201, Rapid City, SD 57709-1201.
