What did you take part in that made a difference in your college experience?The Honors Program has allowed me to expand upon different areas of interest as well as get to know faculty within the research areas that interest me. Plus, I think that it will benefit my future immensely to have already completed a thesis as an undergraduate. |

What inspired you to choose CSD?
I fell in love with the field after taking Intro to Communication Disorders and changed my professional goals from pre-physician's assistant to speech-language pathology.
What is your favorite part about USD and why?
I really enjoy feeling at home on campus. I feel comfortable talking to faculty and enjoy seeing familiar faces everywhere.
How is USD different than other schools?
It provides not only a great educational foundation but also a great networking experience among colleagues and professionals who specialize in different areas of interest.
What is your most inspiring class?
I have had very diverse classes with very diverse professors who all provide different teaching styles. With that being said, I recommend anyone who is interested in helping others and the health sciences field to definitely take an introductory course for CSD.
What are your plans after graduation?
I am hoping to attend a graduate program for Speech-Language Pathology.

What inspired you to choose CSD?
I took a variety of classes to help in my decision towards a major and became immediately interested after taking Introduction to Communication Disorders. The job opportunities relevant to this major fulfilled my desire to work with people and assist them in improving their quality of life.
What was your favorite part about USD?
Whether you are going to a football game or the library to study, you always feel like a part of the community. In addition, the people I met and the friendships that were built are things I'll cherish forever.
Who was your most inspiring professor?
Dr. Marni Johnson Martin set a great example for the type of professional I want to be in the future both in the clinical and educational setting.
What are you doing now with your USD degree?
I am in two clinical rotations at this time along with classes and my graduate assistantship. My clinical rotations include: USD Speech and Hearing Clinic in Vermillion and Avera Yankton ENT. Next semester, I will continue clinical rotations at the USD Speech and Hearing Clinic along with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Clinics and Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinic in Sioux Falls.
Do you have advice for students?
Your parents aren't here to tell you what to do or how you should do it. Be yourself. Be smart and most of all, have fun! The memories and friendships you develop last a lifetime!
