CMJ Student is Recipient of 2010 NBNA Scholarship
Kealey Bultena, a Lennox, S.D. native, is a 2010 recipient of the Jack Shelley Scholarship, which is presented annually by the Northwest Broadcast News Association. She is a weekend news producer at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, S.D. and a news anchor and reporter for Coyote News, the weekly live television newscast at USD. Read More>
CMJ Students are Siouxland Film Festival Finalists
Four short films by students from the University of South Dakota are finalists in the March 27 Siouxland Film Festival at the Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City, Iowa. "Night Crew" by Kyle Nickolite; "Room Cleaning" by John Larson; and two films by Skye Giebink, "Chicken Soup: Cooking with Stop Motion" and "Serving Kevin Fischer," were chosen to compete in the evening awards screening. These shorts will go head-to-head against entries from the University of Texas, the California Institute of the Arts, Chapman University, the Rochester Institute of the Arts and others. Read More>
Two CMJ Students Named as National Semifinalists for Academy/mtvU Oscar Correspondent Contest
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, announced 10 teams of college journalists as semifinalists in the 2010 Oscar Correspondent Contest, each vying for a coveted position on the red carpet at the 82nd Academy Awards® in Hollywood. Nineteen Students to Helm Spring Coyote News Broadcasts
Nineteen students from the University of South Dakota were named to Coyote News teams for the spring semester. The USD Department of Contemporary Media & Journalism announced that Coyote News TV will have a production team of 14 students during the 2010 spring semester, while six students from USD will produce, direct and report Coyote News Radio for KAOR. KYOT Productions at USD Nominated for National Awards
The University of South Dakota's KYOT-TV is a finalist in four categories at the 2009 College Broadcasters Inc. National Student Production Awards.
Winners in 24 categories will be announced and awards will be presented to all finalists at the awards ceremony at the 88th annual National College Media Convention in Austin, Texas. Four KYOT-TV productions are finalists for Best Newscast, Best Public Service Announcement (PSA), Best Comedy and Best Promo. Read More>
