Jason Berger is the author of _Antebellum at Sea: Maritime Fantasies in Nineteenth-Century America_ (University of Minnesota Press, 2012) and is currently at work on a new book, titled _Electrical Subjects: Counter-Humanist Politics in Antebellum America_. His articles appear in journals such as _Early American Literature_, _Criticism_, and _The Minnesota Review_, and he is currently co-editor of the journal _Literature in the Early American Republic_ (LEAR).
