South Dakota Review
We are home to South Dakota Review, a highly respected literary magazine that continues a 40-year tradition of publishing excellent fiction, poetry, and non-fiction for a national audience.
Vermillion Literary Project
The Vermillion Literary Project, an award-winning student organization, provides students with a way to get involved in the local literary scene, whether graduate or undergraduate.
Dakota Writing Project
The Dakota Writing Project, a non-profit organization for teachers of every discipline and grade level, makes its home in the English Department. The Dakota Writing Project is dedicated to improving writing in the classroom.
Alpha Mu Phi
Alpha Mu Phi is USD's local Sigma Tau Delta chapter. This organization's central purpose is to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies. Sigma Tau Delta also recognizes the accomplishments of professional writers who have contributed to the fields of language and literature.
University Writing Center
The University Writing Center provides services designed especially for any undergraduate or graduate student, including international students using English as a Second Language. Knowledgeable, experienced writing consultants work with academic papers, dissertations and theses, proficiency (CAAP) exams, and any other work that involves writing. Consultants are also available to visit classes. If you're already a strong writer, consider becoming a Writing Center consultant.
