Teaching Interests:
Early Modern Spanish Literature and Social History. Spanish-American Colonial, Emancipation and Contemporary Literature, Social History and Politics. Transatlantic Studies. Spanish Language, Conversation and Writing.
Research Interests:
Colonial Spanish-American and Early Modern Spanish literature and culture, predominantly, works related to Ius Gentium or what is known in the present day as “human rights”. Colonial Nahuatl Literature and its interaction and influence with, to and from Early Modern Spanish literature. Modern and Contemporary Spanish-American narratives, predominantly, Mexican literary and cultural products. Contemporary pro-indigenous and indigenous Mexican authors. Spanish and Latin-American History, specifically, Mesoamerican history and emancipation and revolutionary movements.
