Foreign Language Placement

If you are interested in taking a foreign language class at the University of South Dakota and have had previous exposure to the language, it is highly recommended that you take the WebCAPE foreign language placement test. This exam will help to determine which level of the language you should take as your first course.

We Offer Programs in:

International Study

We offer a variety of study abroad programs for language students, including:

  1. Carl von Ossietzky Universitat - Oldenburg, Germany
  2. Friedrich Schiller Universitat - Jena, Germany 
  3. IEFE at the University of Pau - Pau, France 
  4. Universidad de Vigo - Vigo, Spain

These programs offer semester, summer and year-long study options. In addition to these language programs, USD offers study abroad options throughout Latin America, Asia, and Africa. CLEP Testing

The Division of Continuing & Distance Education administers College-Level Examination Program ® (CLEP) exams to current USD students.  CLEP testing gives students the opportunity to receive college credit for select courses by earning satisfactory scores on a CLEP exam.
