Program Information
Degree Requirements
The MSAS program has a central "core" of at least 24 hours in coursework that must be taken by all students. The core requirements are supplemented by 12 hours of coursework in a particular area of emphasis called a "specialization".
Specializations:
- Organizational Leadership
- Human Resources
- Health Service Administration
- Long-Term Care Administration
- Alcohol and Drug Studies
- Criminal Justice (Rapid City only)
- Interdisciplinary
Two Specializations
You can easily complete two specializations in the Master of Science in Administrative Studies program. Complete 36 credit hours of required course work in one area of specialization and complete an additional 12 credit hours of specified course work in another area of specialization to obtain two specializations. The diploma and transcript will indicate both specializations.
The Organizational Leadership specialization and the Human Resources specialization share two three-credit hour courses; consequently, in some instances, these two specializations may be obtained with merely six additional credit hours.
Faculty
Graduate faculty from across campus are selected to teach this program. Course work and faculty members come from areas including Public Administration; Health Services Administration; Industrial Psychology; Speech Communication; Counseling, Guidance and Personnel Services; and Technology for Education and Training.
