I chose USD because it was close to my hometown and family, which are very important to me. I was awarded the Mickelson Scholarship, which also influenced my decision.
I was inspired by my high school drama teacher who saw my potential and encouraged me to pursue a career in public speaking in the media. I attended Girls' State that USD offers and the campaigning and content was so enjoyable for me that I decided to pursue political science as my major.
My favorite part about USD is that it offers everyone a way to stay busy through involvement. In addition to my studies, I was involved with the Political Science League, Coyote News, The Volante Honors Society, International Studies and Study Abroad. I also had the opportunity to do an internship for Chairman Drake Olson at the Minnehaha County GOP.
My post-graduation plans are to move to Nashville, Tennessee and pursue a career in media and event planning.
