Agency Description

Community Counseling Services (CCS) is a private, non-profit community mental health center that provides behavioral health and outpatient services for the counties of Beadle, Hand, Jerauld, Miner, Lake and Moody in South Dakota. Services include:

  • Outpatient mental health services
  • Outpatient alcohol and drug services
  • Outpatient children's mental health services
  • Services for adults with severe, persistent mental illness
  • Intensive services for adults with severe, persistent mental illness

Position Information
  • Contract Training site (contracted with USD)
  • Stipend: $12,480 per 12 months
  • Hours per week: 16 hours per week/4 weeks per month
  • Number of placement positions: 1
  • Estimated distance from Vermillion: 186 miles
  • Prior training & experience required of trainees: two years post bachelor's degree with testing skills and some exposure to counseling
  • Prior training and experience preferred of trainees: master's degree, testing and counseling experience
  • Strengths of this practicum experience: Opportunity to work with a wide range of populations with special focus on adult psychiatric population in a non-institutional setting and opportunity to complete disability evaluations
  • Additional comments: CCS provides an excellent opportunity for self-motivated clinicians to practice with difficult consumers in a multi-disciplinary setting and learn to work in a team treatment environment.
