Dakota Counseling Institute is a private non-profit community mental health center which serves the residents of Davison, Sanborn, Aurora, Hanson and Brule counties. The staff of Dakota Counseling Institute consists of clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, doctoral level psychology graduate students, a consulting psychiatrist, a consulting psychiatric nurse and case managers. The major services provided by Dakota Mental Health Center include:

Position Information
  • Direct pay training site (not contracted with USD)
  • Stipend: $18.00 per hour (12 months)
  • Hours per week: not to exceed 20 hours per week
  • Number of placement positions: 2-3
  • Estimated distance from Vermillion: 132 miles
  • Prior training & experience required of trainees: prepracticum and assessment courses
  • Prior training and experience preferred of trainees: master's degree
  • Strengths of this practicum experience: diverse clientele with respect to age, race, and SES; range of presenting problems
