Bio:
Dr. Jacobs is a clinical/community psychologist, who has been working in disaster psychology since 1989. He is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Disaster Mental Health Institute.
Teaching Interests:
My current course assignments include both graduate (500 and above) and undergraduate courses (below 500):Crisis Intervention (PSYC 655), Disaster Mental Health (PSYC 656), Traumatic Stress (PSYC 657), Intro to Disaster Response (PSYC 255), Psychological First Aid (PSYC 256), Intro to Disaster Mental Health (PSYC 456), Theories of Personality and Psychotherapy (PSYC 464)
Research Interests:
My general research interests include: Traumatic Stress, Disaster Mental Health, Coping with stress, and Cultural issues. Current specific research projects planned or underway include: an evaluation of a new Psychological First Aid course for the general public, effectiveness of our community-based Psychological First Aid training for veterans and first responders, as well as for military units. We are also exploring cross-cultural concepts of traumatic stress.
