Library Electronic Resources

The following electronic resources are available through the South Dakota BRIN by clicking on the links below.  Many additional resources are available through the USD Lommen Health Sciences Library at www.usd.edu/lhsl/databases.html.  BRIN sites may request a search from any database located at a USD Library by telephone 605-677-5348 or by using the Online Reference Question Form at www.usd.edu/lhsl/ref/referencequestion.html.

For delivery of specific journal articles the Lommen Library is equipped with Ariel® Software capable of transmitting color illustrations to your local library or your desktop computer.  A high resolution scanner and Prospero® Software provide the technology required for electronic delivery of journal text and illustrations.  To request a specific article or book chapter electronically click on www.usd.edu/lhsl/ill/ to find the BRIN document delivery form.

To find which database carries a specific journal, you may use Lommen's Journal Holdings Search.

Biosis Previews

Biosis Previews includes bibliographic references with abstracts derived from life sciences research journals published worldwide.

PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, provides access to over 12 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's.  It is free and available at any location with Internet access.

NIH digital archive of life sciences journal literature

USD BRIN Libraries continue to negotiate access for additional online resources.  The Elsevier Science Direct titles are currently unavailable.  If a new contract is negotiated or as licenses are finalized new databases will appear on this web page.

Wiley InterScience

The BRIN Wiley InterScience contract provides full text of over 180 leading scientific, technical, medical, and professional journals..
