Summer Accounting Institute
Current high school sophomores and juniors in South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wyoming are encouraged to attend USD's Summer Accounting Institute. The annual Institute is held every summer, and will include various classroom activities as well as a field trip to expose attendees to current accounting practices. High school accounting/business teachers and counselors from the area are also invited to attend.
What's in it for You?
Education
The Institute will provide participants with information about the dynamic accounting profession. Faculty and other speakers from the region will make presentations, educational videos will be shown, and other fun educational activities are planned.
Exploration
Students will get a chance to meet national, regional, and local employers who hire USD's accounting graduates. The Accounting Institute also includes a one-day field trip where students will get the chance to visit a public accounting firm and other well-known businesses. Students will also get to spend time with USD's accounting and business faculty.
Networking
High School students from South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wyoming who are interested in accounting are encouraged to attend this exciting Accounting Institute. Area students will get the chance to meet other students with similar interests. Additional activities such as sand volleyball, bowling, Frisbee golf, swimming, movies, pizza party, etc. are planned.
Scholarships/Awards
Three $500 scholarships to attend the USD Beacom School of Business will be awarded at the conclusion of the Accounting Institute to students who have shown outstanding enthusiasm and knowledge of the accounting profession and who pursue an Accounting degree at USD.
