south dakota council on economic education

The mission of the South Dakota Council on Economic Education (SDCEE) is to improve the quality and quantity of statewide economic literacy.  This is accomplished through teacher training programs, educationalmaterial development, and effective distribution of resources through a statewide lending library and web page.  These activities focus on teaching basic economic concepts to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade and to adults through community programs.  The SDCEE incorporates economic education, financial responsibility, environment, economic development, and enterprise into its programs.

The SDCEE, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is part of the Outreach Services of the University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business.  This relationship, in addition to partnerships/affiliations with statewide, national, and international organizations, enables the Council to meet the ever growing needs of the citizens of South Dakota.  The Council is committed to maintaining and expanding programs which will prepare students, teachers, and community members to participate successfully in a global economy as consumers, workers, and citizens. Literacy of this type will help South Dakota grow and keep its population vibrant.
