Professional Profile
While a student at USD in the MBA one-year program, I was hired by the FDIC into their Corporate Employee Program (CEP). My official title is Financial Institution Specialist, and I am technically in-training for three years. The CEP includes a one-year rotational assignment, which includes time spent in Dallas, TX, training and learning about the FDIC's role as Receiver of failed institutions, in Washington, D.C. with the Insurance Research division, and time spent in various field offices learning about Compliance and Risk Management examinations. At the end of the one-year rotation, I will be placed into a certain track depending on my skills, preferences, and the needs of the corporation. I will spend 2-3 years training and working in the track I am placed into, and when I have completed numerous benchmarks and schools, I will take the technical examination to become a Financial Institution Examiner.
I am based out of the Eau Claire, WI field office, and the position requires travel throughout the state of Wisconsin. For me, the majority of my travel is located within the northern half of the state. I travel with a team of examiners to complete scheduled examinations of state-chartered, non-member (of the Federal Reserve) banks. Examinations include analysis of the bank's capital, asset quality, earnings, liquidity, sensitivity to market rates, and management effectiveness.

How Did Beacom Prepare Me For Success?
To qualify for a job with the FDIC, education must have been earned at accredited colleges or universities. USD has the only accredited business school in South Dakota, so I wouldn't have gotten this job without being a student at USD. I also have to say that Coyote Capital Management (CCM) was a very practical and fun learning experience and I would recommend it for any student especially interested in finance and financial markets. The B-School was incredibly helpful with allowing me to take online classes to meet the MBA requirements, and only because of their extensive offerings and flexibility was I able to graduate with an undergraduate AND master's degree in 5 years. |

While at USD, Christine met billionaire investor Warren Buffett at an exclusive student event in Omaha, NE.
