Admission Requirements

Program applicants who demonstrate and document their potential for career and academic success at the graduate level will be considered for admission by the faculty screening committee and program director. The program seeks applicants who possess superior intelligence, sound judgment, good moral character and intellectual maturity.

Application Checklist

Applications to the program should include:

  • A completed graduate program application form
  • Non-refundable application fee of $35 made payable to The University of South Dakota
  • One official transcripts of all prior academic work showing undergraduate degree earned. A Baccalaureate degree or an equivalent degree from an institution with full regional accreditation for that degree is required
  • Letters of recommendation from two individuals who can evaluate your accomplishments, your communication and interpersonal skills and your leadership potential. Each letter should be placed in a sealed envelope and signed
  • Official copy of GMAT scores; a current, satisfactory score is necessary
  • Resume outlining your education, work experience and other activities
  • Personal statement of goals, challenges and experience
International Students

In addition to the above, international students must submit the following:

  • An evaluation of the foreign transcript to US equivalency done by ECE or WES
  • Official copy of TOEFL or IELTS scores. Required TOEFL score is 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version), or 79 (IBT). Required IELTS score is 6.0. USD TOEFL code is 6881, Dept. code 02. USD IELTS code is 4564
  • A financial statement

In order to ensure that all M.B.A. students have a fundamental understanding of business, the USD M.B.A. program requires a group of foundational requirements or prerequisite courses. Applicants may be admitted to the program prior to completing the foundational requirements.
