Through diverse research and outreach the Beacom School of Business serves the state of South Dakota, K-12 teachers and students, and the business community in a variety of ways. Our activities serve different purposes, but collectively work together to advance the ongoing business, educational and community development of our state.

Small Business Development Center  Small Business Development Center
  • Through a network of six offices across the state and offices around the country, we provide professional, confidential and no-cost business consulting services, including one-on-one counseling and training, to individuals starting a business or looking for ways to improve an existing business.
MTS Resource Affiliates:
  • Manufacturing & Technology Solutions (MTS)
    • We assist South Dakota's manufacturers. 
    • Strategic planning, lean enterprise, process improvement, plant layout, training, new product development, and more
  • Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC)
    • We provide technical expertise to South Dakota's businesses interested in bidding on and receiving federal, state and local government contracts.
    • Free government contracting assistance
  • Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
    • We help qualified small businesses propose innovative ideas that meet research and development needs of the federal government with the potential for commercialization.
SE Entrepreneurial Resource Program SE Entrepreneurial Resource Program (SERP)
  • As a start-up incubator service, the Southeast Entrepreneurial Resource Program (SERP) is a collaborative network of Beacom School of Business and community experts working together to enhance the success of early-stage entrepreneurial companies and to support community economic growth.
Prarie Family Business Prairie Family Business Association
  • Family Businesses are the backbone of our state, regional and national economy. The Prairie Family Business Association provides quality educational resources and networking opportunities which assist business owning families and their advisors in understanding the unique issues that are part of the family business system.
