The Beacom School of Business has the capacity to award more than $400,000 in awards and scholarships. These funds are made available through the generous support of alumni and friends.

Scholarships for entering freshmen are based on ACT score and high school performance. Scholarships for continuing students are awarded on the basis of academic performance and faculty recommendations. No application is necessary. Just by declaring a business major, you are a candidate for a scholarship.

Amundson/Absher Family Scholarship

Preference for this Coyote Commitment scholarship is given to an undergraduate student seeking an undergraduate degree from the Beacom School of Business or a liberal arts degree from the College of Arts & Sciences.

Marcus and Vera Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Beacom School of Business students are eligible for this scholarship.

Dan Baker Scholarship

A $1000 annual scholarship available to a business student whose extracurricular activities help improve the life or others with preference given to a student involved in the Enactus program.

Beacom Family Scholarship

These annual scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen students majoring in business who graduated from a South Dakota high school.

Beacom School of Business Scholarship Challenge

Available to undergraduate students enrolled or accepted to USD and the Beacom School of Business. These scholarships are used for the Coyote Commitment program and recipients may be eligible for consideration in subsequent years.

Black Hills Corporation Scholarship

Annual award presented to a junior business major from the territory served by the Black Hills Power & Light Company.

Patrick and Ruth Boehmer Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in the Beacom School of Business. Preference is given to a graduate of Faulkton or Brandon Valley High School in South Dakota.

O.R. Brancel Scholarship

Students in their junior year who are majoring in business at USD are eligible for this scholarship.

Sharon Broderson Memorial Scholarship

Students enrolled at the Beacom School of Business who are juniors or seniors during the year they receive the scholarship are eligible.

Matthew P. and Maria Brzica Scholarship

Preference is given to students who have achieved academically and are from South Dakota. Financial need will be taken into account only as a secondary consideration.

Walter A. and Lucy Yoshioka Buhler Scholarship

Awarded to exceptional students enrolling in either the USD College of Fine Arts or the Beacom School of Business, the Buhler Scholarship alternates annually between business and fine arts students who graduated from a South Dakota high school or are South Dakota residents.

Francis and Mary Lou Campbell Scholarship

Undergraduate students enrolled in or accepted by the Beacom School of Business are eligible for this scholarship. Consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program.

John “Jack” Jr. and Michael Carmody Scholarship

Annually awarded to junior or senior students majoring in business, the Carmody Scholarship is available to exceptional graduates of Sioux Falls public high schools with financial need who have participated in school and community service.

Laddie Cimpl Business Scholarship

This annual scholarship is awarded to students from the Yankton area who are enrolled in the Beacom School of Business.

Dale Clement Scholarship

Undergraduate Coyote Commitment scholarships for students enrolled in the Beacom School of Business.

A.A. Cotton Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships available to graduates of Clay County, S.D. high schools who are enrolled in the Beacom School of Business, rank in the upper portion of their class and have financial need.

Harriet S. Cosgrove Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to Beacom School of Business students. Special consideration is given to candidates who have shown a concern for participating in community and student affairs.

Coyote Capital Management Presidential Scholarship

This scholarship is given to the president of the Coyote Capital Management Group within the Beacom School of Business.

Rick Davies Scholarship

Incoming freshmen planning on a major in the Beacom School of Business are eligible for this scholarship.

Virgil F. Dove Scholarship

These annual scholarships are awarded to undergraduate business students who display financial need and academic achievement.

Gary and Sue Ellis Business Scholarship

These five $3,000 Veritas scholarships are awarded to students enrolled or accepted by the Beacom School of Business. Preference is given to a students from Sac City, Iowa.

Entrepreneurship III Scholarship

Scholarships awarded to students enrolled in Entrepreneurship III in the Beacom School of Business.

Francis V. Fetzner Scholarship

Deserving Beacom School of Business students are eligible for this scholarship.

First National Bank in Sioux Falls Scholarship

These scholarships are given to Beacom School of Business students.

Richard Foreman Scholarship

This scholarship is given to a business student at USD.

Scholarships available to entrepreneurial students in the Beacom School of Business.

Anna M. Goetz Business Scholarship

The Anna M. Goetz Business Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in business at USD

Alan M. Graff Memorial Scholarship

An annual $1000 scholarship to a graduate of Vermillion High School, who is majoring in business, entering their third year at USD and meets the academic requirements for the Coyote Commitment program.

Roger Hainje Memorial Scholarship

Preference for this scholarship is given to undergraduates who graduated from Dell Rapids High School or Dell Rapids St. Mary's High School and are majoring in economics, business administration or marketing. Second preference is extended to students from Sioux Falls and thirdly to those who graduated from any other high school in Minnehaha County and also majored in one of the three specified majors. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Mary W. Hanson Scholarship

This scholarship is given to a business student at USD.

James E. Harrenga Scholarship

The recipient must be pursuing a major in the Beacom School of Business. Preference is given to a student demonstrating financial need.

Lorraine R. Hart Scholarship

First consideration for this scholarship is given to students in the USD Scholars program. Preference is given to students enrolled in the Beacom School of Business.

Ardell and Rula Hatch Scholarship

The Ardell and Rula Hatch Scholarships is awarded to students in the Beacom School of Business.

James R. Hawke Scholarship

These scholarships are given to students enrolled or accepted by the Beacom School of Business and who graduated from a South Dakota high school.

Dale and Barbara Hughes Clement Scholarship

Scholarships awarded by the Dean of the Beacom School of Business in recognition of the leadership that Dale Clement gave the School of Business and to the State of South Dakota.

John E. and Mary J. Hulse Scholarship

This annual scholarship is given to Beacom School of Business students.

Gene Iverson Family Scholarship

Annual scholarship for juniors or seniors enrolled in the Beacom School of Business.

John P. Jones Scholarship

Deserving Beacom School of Business students are eligible for this scholarship.

Kal and Kim (Cleaver) Kletschke Scholarship

Preference for this $1000 annual Coyote Commitment scholarship is given to students from the Sioux City or Vermillion area who are interested in a business degree.

Revone Kluckman Memorial Scholarship

These scholarships are given to outstanding students in any major at the Beacom School of Business.

Doyle and Rachel Knudson Scholarship

This scholarship is for undergraduate students who are enrolled in or accepted by the Beacom School of Business. Awards are used for the Coyote Commitment scholarship program. Preference is given to the applicant who best meets the following criteria:

  • A graduate of Centerville High School
  • Achieves a class rank in the top 50 percent of the Beacom School of Business applicant pool
  • Demonstrates an interest in the area of business management
  • Demonstrates financial need

Shirley Laskin Family Scholarship

Native American students attending the Beacom School of Business are eligible for this scholarship. Recipients must:

  • Be members of a recognized Native American tribe in South Dakota
  • Have junior or higher standing, having successfully completed their first two years of study
  • Be students with potential to become long-term leaders and positive role models in Native American culture, including business, government or other leadership capacities

Carol and Herman Lerdal Scholarship

Undergraduate scholarships awarded to sophomore, junior of seniors in the Beacom School of Business who achieve academically and who have expressed an interest in business as a career.

Joseph and Samene Lesser Scholarship

Undergraduate students enrolled in or accepted by the Beacom School of Business are eligible for this scholarship. First consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program, which requires the student to obtain an ACT score of at least 24 and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to an undergraduate business student who is interested in attending the USD School of Law upon graduation.

John H. and Burl A. Litzelman Scholarship

Juniors enrolled in the Beacom School of Business are eligible for this scholarship.

John S. and Dorothy H. Lockwood Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is given to undergraduate students enrolled in the Beacom School of Business at USD. Preference is given to candidates who have demonstrated a need for financial aid and have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA.

Caleb Lyle Undergraduate Research and Experiential Learning Scholarship

Scholarships awarded to undergraduate students in the Beacom School of Business who engage in research and/or experiential learning projects as approved by a committee appointed by the Dean.

Mascott Scholarship

Recipients shall be business students with strong potential for service in their chosen fields. Financial need may be considered.

J.D. and Bobbi Mason Scholarship

Recipients of this scholarship may include pre-business and business students.

Terry and Linda McClain Fund for Graduate School of Business Students

Scholarship awarded to a graduate student in the Beacom School of Business.

Howard E. Miller Scholarship

This scholarship is given to any executive officer of the Coyote Capital Management Group within the Beacom School of Business.

Earl G. and Margaret B. Moe Family Trust

Preference is given to a student enrolled or accepted by the Beacom School of Business.

V.E. Montgomery Jr. Scholarship

Recipients must be pursuing a major in business. First preference is given to students in the USD Scholars program and financial need will also be considered.

Young and Gwendolyn Moore Scholarship

This scholarship is given to an outstanding Beacom School of Business scholarship who is majoring in health services administration.

Jan P. Nagel Leadership Scholarship

A $2,000 annual Leadership Coyote Commitment scholarship is available, with preference given to a business student.

Christopher L. Nelson Scholarship

Undergraduate scholarships awarded to junior or senior Beacom School of Business students who excel academically, demonstrate financial need and come from a farm or small town in South Dakota with a population of less than 5,000.

Kevin Nystrom Scholarship

Student recipients must be South Dakota residents at the Beacom School of Business with an ACT of at least 24 and who maintain a GPA of at least 3.5. First consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program.

Kenneth and Kathryn Palm Leadership Scholarship

A $2,000 Leadership Coyote Commitment scholarship is given each year, with preference given to a business student.

Joel and Kari Portice Family Scholarship

Undergraduate scholarship for students who are residents of South Dakota, excel academically and are pursuing a degree in business.

Kathryn and Warren Prostrollo Jr. Scholarship

Deserving Beacom School of Business students are eligible for this scholarship.

Jim Rath Business Scholarship

This scholarship is for undergraduate students who are enrolled in or accepted in the Beacom School of Business. Preference is given to students in the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Gerald L. and Roxine J. Reade Scholarship

Beacom School of Business students are eligible for this scholarship. Consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program.

Mary P. Ricciardello Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for junior or senior business students who have shown improvement during their academic career.

This scholarship is given to a business student at USD.

Willis J. Schenk Scholarship

Beacom School of Business students are eligible for this scholarship.

Nelville A. Seeley Scholarship

This scholarship is given to a Beacom School of Business student. Preference is given to a graduate of a South Dakota high school with demonstrated financial need.

Sioux City Area School of Business Scholarship

Annual scholarship for a student enrolled in the Beacom School of Business who is from the Sioux City area, western Iowa or eastern Nebraska.

Ronald and Mary Slaughter Campbell Scholarship

First consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program. Preference is given to graduates of a South Dakota high school who are enrolled in or accepted by the Beacom School of Business.

George A. Smith Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Recipients of this scholarship are required to be students in the Beacom School of Business who graduated from a high school in Hanson County, South Dakota. If there are no qualifying students from Hansen County, the recipient must be from McCook, Hutchinson, Davison, Sanborn or Miner counties.

Earl S. and Harriet Sparks Scholarship

Beacom School of Business students in their junior year are eligible for this scholarship.

Douglas L. Steckler Scholarship

These annual scholarships are given to students in the Beacom School of Business who display financial need.

Dale and Holly Stockfleth Scholarship

Gifts are to be used to provide an annual $1,000 Coyote Commitment scholarship. Preference will be given to a School of Business student.

Students in Free Enterprise Scholarship

Scholarship to support the operating expenses of the Students in Free Enterprise (now Enactus) group at the USD Beacom School of Business. Funding includes a $1000 scholarship to the winner of the Risky Business Competition at USD.

Howard, Adeline and Tad Svendsen Scholarship

This scholarship is for business students who display adequate progress toward a degree, in terms of credit hours earned, and at least a 3.2 GPA. Preference is given to students whose residence at the time of entering USD was in the southeast corner of South Dakota. Financial need is considered.

Jerry and Dianne Taylor Scholarship

Upperclassmen in the Beacom School of Business are eligible for this scholarship. Recipients must be South Dakota residents and may not hold a membership in a social fraternity or sorority at USD. Consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program.

Tracy Family Business Scholarship

Awarded to a high achieving student(s) enrolled in the Beacom School of Business in their junior or senior year who majors in either Health Services Administration or Operational Analytics.

Valley Queen Cheese Scholarship

A scholarship for current students in the Beacom School of Business who have completed at least 12 hours of credit. Recipients are from South Dakota, with a preference for students from Brown, Codington, Clark, Deuel, Grant, Hamlin, Marshall, Roberts or Spink counties.

Art Volk Scholarship

A $1000 annual Coyote Commitment scholarship for a Beacom School of Business School student.

John T. Vucurevich Scholarship

Business students are eligible for this scholarship. Preference is given to candidates who have shown initiative and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Financial need will be taken into account.

June and Lyle Wagner Scholarship

Recipients must have completed either their freshman, sophomore or junior year and the scholarships are to be used for their next school year.

John R. Waltner Scholarship

Recipients of this scholarship are chosen for their potential to be of service to the field of business. Financial need may be considered, but is not the sole determining factor.

Jerri P. Webster Scholarship

This $1,000 Coyote Commitment scholarship is awarded each year, with preference given to a student from Sioux Falls who is studying business.

Wells Fargo Scholarship

Ten annual $1000 Coyote Commitment scholarships are available each year. First preference is given to students from communities in North Dakota, South Dakota and western Minnesota in which there is a Wells Fargo branch. 

Doris and Morris Winter Scholarship

Scholarships for exceptional students accepted or enrolled in the Beacom School of Business with preference given to upperclassmen.

Xcel Energy Scholarship

This undergraduate scholarship is given to students enrolled in the Beacom School of Business. The student should be exemplary with a GPA of at least 3.25 who has shown volunteer commitment to the community and the university.

Marlon P. Young Scholarship

First consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program. The recipients of this scholarship are chosen by the dean of the Beacom School of Business or a designated scholarship committee. Preference is given to the applicant who best meets the following critieria:

  • Achieves an ACT score of 24 or above
  • Achieves a class rank in the top 50 percent of the business school applicant pool
  • Demonstrates an interest in the area of business
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • Is a foreign student from an East Asian country.

Youth Business Scholarship

$500 will be awarded to students have completed the Youth Business Adventure program and intend to major in business.

Anthony and Lia Zaccagnino Scholarship

An annual $1,000 scholarship to a student enrolled or accepted in the MBA program in the Beacom School of Business.
