Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) for Students

The mission of the Behavior Intervention Team is to provide proactive assistance to students in order to address behavioral issues to promote student academic success and safety of the University community.

The BIT is not designed to deal with cases of immediate threats to the safety of the student or others.  In these cases, the University Police Department should be contacted directly at 605-677-5342.

Our membership is made up of representatives from the following areas:  Dean of Students, Student Counseling Center, University Police Department, University Housing, and Student Rights and Responsibilities.  The BIT meets on a regular basis to discuss students that have been referred and to agree upon the most appropriate course of action to assist the student.

To express a concern to the BIT, complete and submit a referral.

For any further questions, please contact the Dean of Students' Office 605-677-5331
