Welcome New & Returning Students!

Spring semester orientation for new international students will begin on Monday, January 9, 2012. This is mandatory for all new students in F-1 and J-1 student status including transfer students. Please plan to arrive on campus no later than Sunday, January 8, 2012 so that you can attend the orientation.

Orientation will help you to:

  • Become familiar with USD and the Vermillion community
  • Learn about important academic issues
  • Access necessary campus resources
  • Learn about immigration regulations
  • Learn about health insurance
  • Learn about employment in the U.S.
  • Meet other new and returning USD students
  • Experience new cultures
  • Get acquainted with the International Student Services Office

The International Student Services Office (ISSO) serves the international student community. We assist international students in a smooth transition to life in Vermillion, South Dakota.

As an international student at The University of South Dakota, you will have countless exciting opportunities. You can become a member of a Fraternity or Sorority, participate in or become a fan of NCAA Division I Athletics, compete in intramural sports, attend cultural events or join one of our many student organizations including the International Student Club.  All of these opportunities and more are waiting for you.
