Dakota Days Support Team

The Dakota Days Support Team is sponsored by the Student Counseling Center in cooperation with volunteers from USD, Sanford Health, the Vermillion community, and local organizations.

The Support Team provides on-site services to students, guests, or community members who are in need throughout the D-Days weekend. The Support Team also operates an Alcohol Watch Center and provides support to individuals on campus and within the community who are experiencing emotional distress and/or substance use concerns.

Participation in the Support Team provides a great learning opportunity for all involved. It is a great opportunity to meet new people, understand the effects of binge drinking, and provide services to USD and the Vermillion community.

Interested students are encouraged to apply directly at the SCC the beginning of fall semester or email scc@usd.edu with questions.

Nikki's Fund

In 2006, the Student Counseling Center and Ms. Janine Harris initiated Nikki's Fund. Nikki's Fund was created in memory of Nicole Vallie Harris, daughter of Janine Harris, who died by suicide on June 15, 2005. Nikki's Fund is designed to assist USD students with mental health concerns beyond their financial capabilities.
