Program Manager/Clinical Staff Coordinator
Debra completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Chemical Dependency Counseling at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. She later completed her Masters in Social Work from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. Debra began her career as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor later moving into the Social Work profession within a psychiatric hospital setting. She currently maintains her position as Clinical Coordinator of the Student Counseling Center. She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker and a Level II Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor. The one thing she enjoys most about her job is observing and participating in the process of students learning new skills, developing as adults, and succeeding both personally and academically. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, attending sporting events, fishing, and traveling.

Staff Counselor
Connie has a master's degree in Counseling from USD and is currently a doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at USD. Connie has been a part of the USD community for more than 20 years. She approaches counseling from a person-centered perspective with the goal of assisting clients in identifying their own unique solutions to life challenges. Connie enjoys yard work, travel, family time, and spending time with her two cats and her puppy.
 
Lauren Schuur Lauren Schuur, MSW, CDCT
Coordinator of Prevention Service/VPC Project Director
Lauren completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 2012. She then completed her Masters in Social Work at the University of Northern Iowa in 2013. Lauren is currently working towards her CCDC License and Prevention Specialist certificate. Lauren has worked in group homes, residential facilities, and mental health centers for over 3 years. She has primarily worked with High-Risk youth and teens but is excited for this new career path. Lauren enjoyed her college days and is thrilled to continue her journey on a college campus. Lauren's prevention interests include binge drinking, drug usage, suicide, and relationship violence. In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, traveling, and riding her motorcycle.
 
Pam-Johnson1  Pam Johnson
Staff Counselor

Pam is originally from Enumclaw, Washington and recently relocated to South Dakota with her family.  Pam earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Western Washington University and went on to get her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University.  She worked as a child and family therapist in a community mental health center in Washington State for almost ten years.  She primarily has experience working with children, adolescents, and families, but is really looking forward to working with college students.   She is a licensed mental health counselor in Washington State and is currently working towards her LPC in South Dakota.  She is taking classes in Addiction Studies and will be working towards her CDCC.  When not at work, Pam enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, photography and would like to travel the world someday.

Michele Turner, LPC, NCC
Part-Time Staff Counselor
Michele is a licensed professional counselor and a national certified counselor. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Therapy at Brigham Young University. She completed her Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University. She has over 10 years experience working as a therapist, four of which she was the Director of Counseling at Shorter University. She enjoys working with students and is excited to be at USD. Some of her hobbies include spending time with her family, crocheting, and playing Sudoku.

Senior Secretary
Calli has her Bachelor's Degree in Earth & Planetary Sciences and Psychology. Calli is originally from Albuquerque where she attended the University of New Mexico and was an active volunteer at the Agora Crisis Center. She has experience as an advocate for victims of domestic violence and is a certified secondary education science teacher. During her time away from work Calli enjoys spending time with her family. Calli is an avid moviegoer, dog enthusiast, and loves to play cards.

kyle wockenfuss Kyle Wockenfuss, MA, PLMHP, NCC
VPC Evaluator
Kyle is originally from Crete, Nebraska where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and History from Doane College. During his time at Doane, Kyle was a member of Psi Chi and Phi Alpha Theta History honors societies. Kyle has graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Master's in Counseling. He is currently enrolled in the Counselor Education Doctoral Program at USD. Kyle worked on various research projects and presented many of them at the local and state level. Besides working with the Student Counseling Center, Kyle is a Therapist in South Sioux City, NE, where he loves working within the male population of children and adolescents. Kyle's research interests include social perceptions of marginalized groups, male gender roles, and counseling of children. Personally, he enjoys working out, traveling, reading, spending time with his family and friends, and eating Spicy Garlic Buffalo Wild Wings.

Ryan received his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Brigham Young University in 2010 and subsequently his master's degree in psychology from USD. He is currently attending the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at USD. Ryan has experience working with veterans and at an inpatient substance abuse clinic. He also has counseled students at the Psychological Services Center at USD over the past two years. He favors a client-centered approach to therapy, with a reliance on cognitive-behavioral techniques. Ryan's research interests include studying the use of journaling techniques to enhance overall health and inquiries into how emotional conditions like alexithymia develop. His personal interests include spending time with his family, eating shrimp (all kinds!), and reading science fiction and fantasy literature.

Matthew has his bachelors of Science degree in psychology and biology from Valparaiso University and is currently in graduate school working towards his doctorate in clinical psychology.  He has experience in working with clients of all ages and backgrounds - children, college students, adults, and forensic populations. Currently, he works at Dr. Stokes and Associates, assessing inmates, children, and issues regarding competency to stand trial; he also volunteers as a rape crisis advocate in Sioux Falls. Matthew believes that therapy should be about gaining insight into one's life and applying that insight to solve the challenges life presents. In his free time, Matthew enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with his cat, Sherlock.
