Apply for Housing
Admitted and looking for the next step? If you have paid your University deposit you can now begin your Housing Application. When you submit your request, you will be asked to agree to a legal and binding contract. Please make sure you read the Residence Hall Occupancy Contract before submitting and be aware of all deadline dates.
New Student Housing Application Process
1. Access your myU Portal login information
Once you have paid your University deposit, you will be able to access your myU Portal login information. View the Account Pickup page to retrieve your username and password. Please allow 24 - 48 hours for your University deposit to be processed before you attempt to login.
2. Enter the myU Portal
After retrieving your username and password you now have access to the myU Portal. Visit the Get a Room! page within the housing channel to access the housing application.
3. Enter the Room Reservation System
Within the Reserve Your Room page click on the "Enter Room Reservation System." You will be redirected to a different site and will need the following documentation to complete the application:
USD student ID number (which can be found on your acceptance letter or by contacting your admissions counselor)
Current contact information
Meal plan preference
- Residence hall preference (note: all first-year students must live in Coyote Village, Beede, Mickelson, Olson or Richardson Halls)
- Be ready to answer a short survey used to match roommates (i.e. smoker/non-smoker)
The Office of Student Life/Housing makes housing assignments during the early summer. As a new student, you can expect to be notified of your room assignment, contact information for your roommate(s), and important information about living on campus no later than the last week of June.
