Sam Benedict
Intern, The Late Show with David Letterman
Major: Contemporary Media & Journalism
"The Apprentice" isn't the only way to gain valuable training in New York City. Sam Benedict will head to the Big Apple after earning a highly competitive fall internship with "The Late Show With David Letterman."
As an intern, he will work in the production department and will report to the "Ed Sullivan Theater," the same stage that introduced America to the Beatles, Elvis and the Rolling Stones. The position provides in-depth exposure to professional television production and practices. Before he leaves, he may even have a cameo on national television in one of Dave's skits.
Career Development Gives You a Competitive Edge
"I first learned about the internship when I dropped by the Career Development Center," Benedict said. He visited our Career Development office a few more times to create a cover letter and resume for the position. Our career coaches helped him craft application materials that effectively marketed his relevant skills and USD coursework.
A few months after he applied, the human resources department called him and stated that he was one of twenty individuals selected to interview in New York City. When he found out that he was 1 of the 10 that were hired, he didn't have to think twice about accepting the offer.
"This is a great opportunity for me and I couldn't have done it without the help of the Career Development Center. They were always willing to help and provided insightful advice," Benedict said.
