consortium on fetal alcohol syndrome

The purpose of the Consortium on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is to build capacity through the establishment of a multi-state consortium reduce the risk factors that result in children born affected by prenatal alcohol exposure.

The member states of the Consortium on FAS are Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.  Montana is currently an inactive member of the consortium.

The Center for Disabilities serves as the administrative organization for the Consortium on FAS.
The Center for Disabilities is the coordinating organization in South Dakota.
In Minnesota, the coordinating organization is the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
In North Dakota, the coordinating organization is the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Center at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine.

A Congressional earmark provides the Consortium funds which are administered by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) a center of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services through a cooperative agreement with the Center for Disabilities and The University of South Dakota.
