- Student support
The Division of Continuing and Distance Education provides guides to advising resources, academic preparation and campus resources for distance and non-traditional students.
- Faculty support
In conjunction with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), the Division of Continuing and Distance Education provides assistance with WebCT and WebAdvisor procedures, syllabus templates, EUC compliance, and more.
- Testing Services
The Division of Continuing and Distance Education offers various graduate placement examinations, credit by examination, and assessment tests: GRE (Graduate Record Examination) subject tests, LSAT (Law School Admission Test), and MPRE (Multi-state Professional Responsibility Examination) for graduate placement. CE also offers the national ACT Assessment and the residual ACT tests, as well as the College Level Examination (CLEP) Program.
- Community Education
The Division of Continuing and Distance Education provides unique, non-credit community education courses for the citizens of Vermillion, South Dakota and the surrounding areas. Through a partnership with the Vermillion School District, community education courses are offered at various locations in Vermillion, South Dakota, on a wide variety of interesting topics. The community education courses offered vary each semester. Past community education courses include computer skills, ballroom dancing, gardening, weaving, and many other exciting courses.
- International Study Tours
Each year, the Division of Continuing and Distance Education offers international study tours to a variety of destinations around the world. These historical and cultural study tours provide students with the opportunity to take part in customized courses designed to provide a great learning experience. The study tours are led by enthusiastic faculty of The University of South Dakota who ensure a rich learning experience. - Customized and Professional Education
The Division of Continuing and Distance Education offers a variety of courses that can be delivered as is or customized to meet your organizational needs. CE works in partnership with business leaders to jointly develop and deliver customized educational learning opportunities to meet the needs of the organization’s strategic goals.
- Summer School
The Division of Continuing and Distance Education coordinates Summer School at The University of South Dakota both on campus and at a distance. Summer school courses are offered in a variety of academic disciplines. These courses are offered face-to-face at The University of South Dakota campus and at higher education centers in Pierre, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota and in Sioux City, Iowa. Students may also enroll in distance summer school courses delivered via online, correspondence, or videoconference study.
