Resources Primarily Dedicated to Civic and Law-Related Education

CIVNET
- An International Resource for Civic Education. The site contains links to other organizations and programs and a calendar of events.
Center for Civil Society International (CCSI)
- ". . . an international clearinghouse working for a continent-wide engagement of private and local organizations with counterpart organizations in the emerging civil society of the new states of the former Soviet Union."
American Bar Association, Public Education
- The Web site for the American Bar Association's Division for Public Education.
Florida State Law-Related Education Association
- An example of a Web site constructed by a state law-related education association.
National Endowment for Democracy (NED)
- "A private, nonprofit, grant-making organization created in 1983 to strengthen democratic institutions around the world through nongovernmental efforts." Included at the site is the Democracy Resource Center (DRC) with access to their library and resource center and to information on past grants.
The Global Democracy Network (GDN)
- "The Global Democracy Network was launched in June 1994 in order to better utilize modern communications technologies -- especially computer networks -- as tools to assist democratic institutions and to provide the Internet community with a source of information related to human rights and democracy." It is a project of the Parliamentary Human Rights Foundation (a private, non-profit association that works with Members of Parliament worldwide to protect human rights and strengthen democracy.
Center for Civic Education
- "A nonprofit, nonpartisan educational corporation dedicated to fostering the development of informed, responsible participation in civic life by citizens committed to values and principles fundamental to American constitutional democracy." The Center includes curricular frameworks, standards for civic education, and sample lessons, as well as links to many other resources at the Center.
Indiana Program for Law-Related Education
- A service of the Indiana University Social Studies Development Center. The Center promotes law- related and civic education in the state of Indiana. The site contains link to other law-related education Internet resources, including access to the ERIC Clearinghouse on law-related education.
Human Rights and Humanitarian Assistance from International Affairs Network (IAN)
- A limited collection of links, including the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Journal of Humanitarian Assistance from Cambridge.
North Carolina Center for the Prevention of School Violence
- The Center serves as the state's primary agency for dealing with the problem of school violence.

AskERIC Clearing House
- A comprehensive and very useful educational resource, including research report summaries, lesson plans, and much more. Search facilities allow easy access to the information.
ERIC/ChESS
- ERIC Clearinghouse for Social Studies and Social Science Education, at Indiana University. "ERIC/ChESS monitors issues about the teaching and learning of history, geography, civics, economics, and other subjects in the social studies/social sciences. ERIC/ChESS has the responsibility for acquiring, processing, and reporting about the significant educational literature in the social studies."
THE INFORMATION SERVICE FROM NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES (NCSS)
- " NCSS engages and supports educators in strengthening and advocating social studies. NCSS serves as an umbrella organization for elementary, secondary, and college teachers of history, geography, economics, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology, and law-related education."

- A service of the U.S. Congress through its Library. Thomas (Jefferson) contains detailed information about legislative activities, a full-text, searchable copy of the US Constitution, Senate and House email addresses, and much other information.

National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
