Lexical Decision-Making Experiment

Modeled after study by Meyer, Schvaneveldt & Ruddy as reported in
Meyer, DE & Schvaneveldt, RW (1976). Meaning, memory structure, and mental processes. Science, 192, 27-33.

Bare-Bones Instructions:
1) Press SPACE BAR to start the trial.
2) Maintain your gaze on the "red" (top) fixation mark.
3) When the "red" fixation mark is replaced by a stimulus:
Use the keyboard to judge whether or not the stimulus was an English "word".

Enter "." to signify a WORD stimulus or Enter "x" to signify a NON-WORD stimulus.
Try to respond quickly, but accuracy is just as important as speed!
4) Immediately after responding, move your gaze to the "white" (bottom) fixation mark.
5) When the "white" fixation mark is replaced by a stimulus:
Enter the same WORD versus NON-WORD judgment as above.
6) Start the next trial at your convenience [Goto Step 1 above].


When all trials are finished use the Commands|Display Results menu
or Commands|Print Results menu for a data summary.
