Associate of Science in Nursing

In 2003, the University of South Dakota (USD) was granted approval to deliver its Associate of Science in Nursing degree to employees of healthcare organizations whose employers had established a contract with the University for nursing education.  The Distance Program was developed to assist employers to "grow" Registered Nurses from currently employed Certified Nursing Assistants, LPNs, and other staff members who demonstrate interest in pursing nursing as a career. The Distance Program assists the employer to retain valuable employees and to promote educational opportunities for personal and professional development.  Employers seeking a contractual agreement should contact the USD Distance Nursing Program by emailing Dawn.Manning@usd.edu or by calling 605-677-6224 for more information.

Employees are able to participate in general education courses and required support courses online.  Theory portions of the nursing courses are delivered online while clinical learning experiences are arranged in centralized geographic locations with cohort student groups.  Upon completion of 65 credit hours of general and required support courses and the clinical nursing courses, students are awarded an Associate of Science in Nursing from the University of South Dakota.

Transfer Students:
Unofficial Transfer Equivalency Report

Transfer students can request for an unofficial transfer equivalency report to give you a more accurate look at what can be transferred to the University of South Dakota.  The transfer equivalency report will include a course by course equivalency report as well as a degree completion plan.  Plans are confirmed by the Registrar upon enrollment.  All we need are unofficial copies of your transcripts from your previous institutions.  Please contact Matt Hammer for questions and how to get started at Matt.L.Hammer@usd.edu.
