Coaching and Mentoring of Pre-Service Teachers

Course Description:

Participants will learn the six cognitive apprenticeship strategies to improve or diversify current coaching methods.  These models include modeling, coaching, scaffolding, and articulating.  Participants will also learn and apply seven strategies for co-teaching with preservice teachers and begin employing strategies with teacher candidates.

Course Description:

Teams of librarians and teachers will collaborate to adapt, teach and revise a lesson to gain deeper understanding of instructional resources for the Common Core State Standards and South Dakota School Library Standards.  A series of webinars combined with a Virtual Learning Environment serves as the means of delivery.

Interdisciplinary Health Care Teams

Course: FAMP 540: Interdisciplinary Health Care Teams
Credit Hours: 3

Course Description:

This course examines interdisciplinary, family-centered, culturally competent assessment, treatment, and care of children and adults with developmental and other disabilities.  A focus of the course is to provide students with a foundation in critical issues related to the field of disabilities and to expose students to roles and functions of various disciplines, which are typically involved in the delivery of services to children and persons with disabilities.
