The Coyote Card is the ID card for The University of South Dakota. Use it for identification, meal plans, access to your residence hall, purchases at Barnes & Noble at the U., operating laundry machines, making copies, and purchases from vending machines in selected areas.

Meal Plan Requirements If you live in a Residence Hall, you are required to purchase a meal plan each semester. Students living in Redwood Hall will be defaulted to the Jr/Sr plan. All others students that are required to have a meal plan will be defaulted to the 80/$585 plan. If you are a commuter, graduate student, live off campus or have an authorized exemption, you are not required to have a meal plan. |

How to Use your Meal Plan
You will use your valid student ID card (Coyote Card) to access your meal plan at all Dining Service locations. Give your card to the cashier and he/she will process your transaction. Your remaining balance information will be displayed after each transaction.
Signing Up for a Meal Plan
If you live in a USD residence hall, you will automatically be charged each semester for the 80/$585.00 plan.
Flex Dollar Policy
Unused Flex dollars from the Fall term will be carried over and added to the meal plan you purchase in the Spring. At the end of the Spring term, unused (remaining) Meals and Flex dollars will be cleared and are not refundable.
Paying For a Plan
Your Meal plan will be billed to your account and will be part of your tuition and fees. Payments are made to the Business Office (not to the Coyote Card Office).
Changes and Cancels
If you wish to select the a different plan, please contact the Coyote Card office. Changes to your semester meal plan must be requested within the first two weeks of the semester (January 28, 2009).
USD Dining Locations
The Commons, C3 Express in the ID Weeks Library, DakotaDome Concessions, Neuharth Cafe, U.Brew, Beede Bump and Aramark tailgates before football games.
Coyote Cash
Coyote Cash is a debit account that all students may activate as part of their student ID. The university's Coyote Cash program is safe, controlled, and allows students to spend money without having to carry cash, write checks or use credit cards. Students, family members or friends can deposit any amount to a student's Coyote Cash account. Coyote Cash can be used to make purchases at all Dining Service locations, Barnes & Noble at USD, U.Copy, USD printing labs, USD Student Health, campus laundry machines, and on-campus Pepsi vending machines.
In addition, the following local merchants also accept Coyote Cash: Burger King, BP gas station, Cherry Street Grille, Domino's Pizza, Hy-Vee, Jones' Food Center, Mister Smith's Bakery, Roadhouse, Subway, Freedom Valu Center and Taco John's.
Depositing to your Coyote Cash Account
Use the VTS (value transfer station) near the ATM in the Link Lab for cash deposits. For checks, write the check payable to USD Card Office and mail to or drop off at the Coyote Card Office in TSC 117B, our current hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 10:00-2:00. For credit card or debit deposits, stop in or call the Coyote Card Office at (605) 677-5415. Coyote Cash carries over from semester to semester and is refundable if the balance is over $10.
Student ID's
You must be a registered student to obtain a student ID. Your first ID is free. There is a $10 fee to replace a lost or stolen ID. Lost or stolen cards should immediately be reported to the Coyote Card Office (605) 677-5415 or Public Safety (605) 677-5342. A temporary ID can be obtained from Public Safety when the Card Office is not open. You are responsible for all transactions and door access made with your card. A $5.00 fee will be assessed for temporary cards that are not returned. You are responsible for all purchases and door access made with your card.
