POSITION: School Psychologist – 4 positions, 1.0 FTE each

LOCATION: Special Services

Committed leadership of a comprehensive Special Services Staff has resulted in the development and implementation of programs that are recognized for their excellence. Special Services staff are active members of the student achievement action plan teams.

Special Services staff receive additional benefits through an expansive array of classes and training opportunities. Professional development is a priority. With ongoing revisions in the federal and state regulations, Kent provides training opportunities to ensure that staff are kept abreast of the changes. Collegial sharing and individual mentoring is readily available to all staff. New teachers are trained and supported throughout the year. Instructional strategies and materials validated by research are selected and used extensively in our programs.

ASSIGNMENT: Candidate will work collaboratively with school staff, other agency personnel and parents to develop and help implement programs to ensure the success of students in the school community. Assess students and document eligibility for special education services and placement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A major in school psychology is required.
2. A master’s degree is required.
3. A current Washington Education Staff Associate (School Psychologist) certificate is required and must be on file prior to beginning work.
4. Understanding of or willingness to learn Washington State regulations governing education of students with disabilities.
5. Knowledge of child development and behavior.
6. Knowledge of current approaches to teaching and educational interventions.
7. Knowledge of behavioral interventions.
8. Ability to build rapport and work with student, staff and parents.
9. Ability to organize ideas, time and materials.
10. Ability to express ideas clearly and understand concepts being discussed.
11. Ability to learn new ideas and skills.
12. Enthusiasm and flexibility.
