Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Sedation November 2 and 3, 2007 - Vermillion, SD $350 $95 for those advanced DAs who have previously completed the 16-hour course

This 16-hour continuing education course is designed to certify dentists and hygienists in nitrous oxide/oxygen administration and to certify assistants in nitrous oxide/oxygen monitoring. This course complies with the South Dakota State Board of Dentistry requirements. This course will address:
- Pain and anxiety management
- Rationale for nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation
- History and evolution of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation
- Patient assessment
- Signs and symptoms of analgesia/sedation
- Patient considerations
- Anatomy and physiology of respiration
- Manufacturing physical distribution of nitrous oxide/oxygen
- Biohazard concerns/scavenging trace gas
- Abuse potential
- Medicolegal regulations issues
- Technique of administration
- Clinical experience with nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation
Requirements:
- Proof of DDS/DH/Advanced Dental Assistant license
- Malpractice insurance
- Current CPR certification
- Participate in all portions of the course
- Not be currently pregnant
Course Schedule First day: 8:00-5:00 lecture Second day: 8:00-11:00 lecture 11:30-4:30 clinical session Pre-registration is required and should be received two weeks before the course date. Cost of the course is $350 and includes text, handouts, supplies. Please send proof of license, malpractice insurance, and CPR certification along with registration.
