What is ADHA and SADHA?

ADHA is the largest professional association representing dental hygienists. Since 1923, ADHA has been an outstanding voice for all dental hygienists, and has shaped the lives and careers of countless professionals.

ADHA's Mission Statement is to achieve autonomy of dental hygiene education, licensure and practice, promote consumer advocacy in oral health care as part of total health, serve as the recognized authority for the profession of dental hygiene.

SADHA is a Student Member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association. As a student of an accredited dental hygiene program, you have a unique opportunity to become active in your professional association.

You have an opportunity to take advantage of all the tangible benefits that membership has to offer, and more importantly, the intangible benefits that plays a vital role in the security of your chosen profession.

Membership Benefits

  • As a student member, you are provided with invaluable opportunities to expand upon your education and to preview your career as a dental hygienist

  • The ADHA Institute for Oral Health offers a variety of scholarships and research grants for students seeking careers in dental hygiene.

  • Your membership entitles you to two publications: The Journal of Dental Hygiene and Access magazine. These two publications help you stay abreast of current issues in dental hygiene.

  • ADHA offers employment assistance through the Career Resource Center, an interactive web-based employment search service, national advertising, and employment reference materials.

  • Financial security is available through liability insurance, group health, auto, term life and disability insurance. You are also eligible to apply for a student MasterCard.

  • Professional networking with constituents and components (state and local areas) is a valuable way to meet your future colleagues and share experiences.

Why Should I Join?

When you join the American Dental Hygienists' Association, you are taking an important step in your career. By becoming a member, you assure your professional distinction. Your membership in ADHA guarantees that you and your profession are represented nationally.

ADHA is constantly monitoring legislative efforts to impact government activities that affect the practice of dental hygiene. That means that your membership dues go to fight legislation that would negatively impact your career, such as on-the-job training.

Your membership dues go to programs and services that directly affect you and your success as an oral health care provider.
