Throughout its history, the Bulgarian Red Cross Society has always acted as part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, contributing to its unity and successful work in the world, in the spirit of the Fundamental Principles of the Movement.
The Bulgarian Red Cross works for the implementation of all resolutions adopted by the high fora of the Movement, and takes part in some of its governing bodies.
Being assisted in difficult times, the Bulgarian Red Cross provides in its turn assistance to other National Societies, as far as its capacity goes. The National Society designs short- and long-term projects and programmes whose implementation would be impossible without the assistance of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and some more experienced and richer sister National Societies.
The contacts and cooperation of the Bulgarian Red Cross are particularly active with the Balkan National Societies. The similar situation in some of these countries facilitates the joint work, while the exchange of experts and the organization of joint events supported by the Federation, contributes to the strengthening and development of the National Societies of the Balkan region.
