The activity of the BRC Water Life Saving Service is aimed mainly at reducing the number of water accidents in the country.
The main activity of the Water Life Saving Service (WLSS) is to train and re-qualify the water rescuers, and to carry out preventive information activity among the population. The WLSS has a training and coordinating role on all problems related to water accidents. Different events are organized to inform people about water accidents prevention. Among them is the "Week of Water Life Saving" held every year at the beginning of the summer season.
The BRC Water Life Saving Service takes part in the international activities as an active member of the International Federation of Life Saving (ILS). The Water Safety Training School in Sozopol is one of ILS training centres in Europe, particularly important for the training of water rescuers in the country. Bulgaria has its champions, and also other distinctions from world championships in water life saving, which is a recognition of the good training of our water rescuers.
