Bulgarian Red Cross Youth

The Bulgarian Red Cross Youth (BRCY) is an autonomous youth organization within the framework of the Bulgarian Red Cross National Society.

The youth volunteers of BRCY work in clubs established in the schools, universities and the places where they live.

BRCY 1

The youth volunteers provide material assistance to children in children's social institutions, helping their socialization; they are also involved in programmes to assist homeless children.

Every year the BRCY organizes summer camps for orphans and handicapped children. Funds for these camps are provided by sponsors and the "Charity" Fund of BRC.

The youth volunteers raise funds for different social activities in favour of vulnerable groups of people.

BRCY 2

The BRCY carries out basic first aid training courses for young people and children from primary school. Youth rescue teams have been set up, i.e. groups of volunteers trained to render first aid in case of disaster.

The youth volunteers also work towards a healthy lifestyle, and AIDS prevention. Training of trainers is carried out on different health problems.

Some youth clubs have a preference for the ecological education and related actlvltles.

BRCY volunteers take part in different international events, such as seminars, training courses, camps, competitions, etc.

Every two years the BRCY organizes an international competition and exhibition under the title of "How Do You Like My Art?". The pieces of art are works of handicapped children.

BRCY 3

The BRCY issues its own bulletin entitled "Red Cross Youth" reflecting the club activities from all over the country.

The BRCY volunteers not only help in the humanitarian activities of the National Society. At the same time they gain experience and skills in different fields of activity, and find new friends.
