Innovations in Disaster Psychology 2009: Vulnerable Populations The new conference description is being prepared. Stay tuned. This conference is intended for disaster mental health professionals, and health and mental health professionals nationally and internationally. The overall objective is for the participants to learn more about how to optimally serve vulnerable populations in preparation for and in response to disasters. The conference will be held September 3 - 5, 2009 in the Allen H, Neuharth Media Center on the campus of The University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. The number of participants will be limited.(Let me register now.) Speakers will be named as final arrangements are made. Conference Registration Fee: Fees for 2009 are currently being calculated.. [Full time graduate students, with proof of current enrollment, in clinical psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychiatric nursing, psychiatry, and social work programs will have reduced fees. There are a limited number of these spaces.] Continuing Education Credit: The DMHI is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The DMHI maintains responsibility for this program and its content. There is an additional charge of $25.00 for a continuing education certificate. Click here for further information about the DMHI's Continuing Education Program. It is planned that continuing education credit will be offered for participation in the conference. (Let me register now.) This conference is designed to provide an opportunity to learn, share, and network in a professional, but comfortable atmosphere. Most meals and breaks are included in the price of registration, as are the outings. The conference is deliberately kept relatively small to enhance the opportunities for informal sharing. The policy of the Disaster Mental Health Institute is to honor requests for refund of fees paid by participants of any seminar/conference if the following condition has been met: The cancellation of participation must be received in writing postmarked at least three weeks prior to the date of the seminar if sent by mail or received at least two weeks prior to the date of the seminar if sent by fax. No requests for refunds will be honored if received within two weeks of the date of the seminar/conference. (Let me register now.)
