Network for Excellence in Teaching (NExT)
The University of South Dakota is a member of the Network for Excellence in Teaching (NExT) funded by the Bush Foundation to develop strategies for:
- recruiting great students,
- preparing them well,
- placing them in schools, and
- supporting them once they get there.
Innovation and Excellence in Teaching:
In The University of South Dakota's Education Program, you may choose to study in an area that you want to teach whether that be in an elementary or high school classroom. Your program will culminate in a full-year residency teaching experience during your senior year.
As part of our partnership with the Bush Foundation, we are committed to graduating highly effective educators. Your ties with The University of South Dakota and the School of Education will continue after you graduate. We will place you in schools led by strong education leaders while continuing to provide you with support during your first two to four years in the classroom. We are committed to your success!
