The rapid release of accurate information regarding an accident, incident, natural disaster, emergency, controversial issue or any crisis situation is clearly in the best interest of the University and its community.
The V.P. of Marketing, Enrollment & Student Services or designee will assess the emergency situation and facilitate the preparation of official statements.
Marketing Communications & University Relations is the only office through which official university announcements, activities and statements may be communicated to the general public and the media. The messages will be stated repeatedly, clearly and by one voice.
- Broadcast mediums will be determined depending on the time of day, day of the week, whether it is a holiday and whether or not there is a power outage.
- Depending on the nature of the crisis, the flow of information will occur by holding a series of press briefings weekly or daily. This enables the University to operate in a proactive manner. After releasing information, Marketing Communications & University Relations will monitor the news coverage and quickly correct any errors that are made.
