A student in the Masters or Ph.D. program in English may apply for a teaching assistantship in the English Dept. Being a teaching assistant generally means a reduction in tuition and gives the graduate student experience in college teaching. Usually, first-year teaching assistants teach two sections of ENGL 101, first-year composition. Other options available to experienced teachers include ENGL 210, Introduction to Literature, and ENGL 283, Introduction to Creative Writing.
