Bio:

I come from the southern hemisphere of this very ill planet, which is currently suffering the effects of global warming due to careless development and adaptation of the habitat. I was born in Chile, a long and thin, beautiful place in South America. I have taught at at USD since August 1989. I obtained my PhD. , in Numerical Analysis, at the University of Iowa in 1990 under the direction of Dr. Kendall E. Atkinson. The title of my dissertation is "Iterative Methods for Solving Integral Equations of Second Kind."


Teaching Interests:

Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Linear Algebra, Foundations of Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Scientific Computing, Numerical Solutions for Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations and Teaching Mathematics using Technology (Maple and Matlab).


Research Interests:

Mathematical Ecology, Mathematical Modeling pplied to Population Dynamics, Scientific Computing, Ecological Networks, Biodiversity in polluted environments.
