BFA & MFA in Painting

The USD painting program provides students with the knowledge and tools necessary to proceed as informed, competent and creative artists. Bridging both the technical and conceptual approaches to painting, USD offers a rigorous and supportive environment that encourages creative thought and personal growth through research, experimentation and critical discussion. Students gain the knowledge to develop a thoughtfully executed and skilled body of paintings and learn to contextualize their work through readings, field trips and research.
