Scholarship Review Day
February 21, 2010
What is Scholarship Review Day?
Scholarship Review Day offers incoming art majors the opportunity to interview and present their art portfolio to art faculty for consideration for Art Department scholarships. Scholarships are offered based on excellence in artistic merit and/or academic success. The reviews allow prospective students and university art faculty members to discuss the direction of student work and evaluate applicants for scholarship purposes and program placement.
When is It?

Frequently Asked Questions
Do the 2D works have to be framed?
Works are not required to be matted or framed, but it is strongly recommended that they are presented in a professional manner. Paper works should be neatly packaged so they can be presented in a manner that will best show professionalism; for example, no curled edges or creasing of the paper from storage. Paintings should be stretched or have the ability to stand on their own; no wet paintings will be accepted in to the viewing space.
How should I display 3D works?
Three-dimensional objects may be displayed on provided pedestals or table space.
How can I display digital works?
The department will have MacBooks and/or projectors available for digital artists. The works for display digitally should be digitally created works or works that are too large to present at Scholarship Review Day.
What if I have special requirements for my artwork?
Please let us know ahead of time if you will need any other special artwork accommodations.

The Art Department selection committee will choose the scholarship awards. Recipients will be notified by an official letter from the Department of Art. One-half the scholarship amount awarded will be applied to tuition and fees during the upcoming fall semester and one-half the amount will be applied to the following spring semester, provided the student meets the specific scholarship requirements outlined in their letter of offer and continues to enroll as a full-time Art Major at USD.
