Brass Chamber Ensemble
The USD Brass Choir is a select ensemble of undergraduate and graduate musicians on trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion. The ensemble performs all types of music from Renaissance and Baroque, to contemporary brass originals and jazz.
The mission of the USD Brass Choir is: "To promote the study and performance of brass ensemble literature while preparing students for future opportunities as brass performers, teachers, and listeners". Recognized as one of the region's premier large brass ensembles, the USD Brass Choir has performed in all types of venues including: a March 2010 European Tour (Amsterdam and Germany), a May 2005 European Tour (Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway), an April 2003 performance with international trumpet artist Vince DiMartino, two specials for South Dakota Public Television and Radio, a memorial service for South Dakota Governor George S. Mickelson, several performances at the South Dakota State Music In-Service Conference, state and regional tours, and various campus celebrations, dedications, and formal concerts.The Brass Choir rehearses Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 – 12:50pm, with auditions open to all students during the first week of the Fall semester.
